Scaloni has reached a century of games as the manager of the Argentina national team, capping one of the most remarkable managerial journeys in the nation's football history.

The 48-year-old took over as interim coach after Argentina's disappointing 2018 World Cup campaign with little coaching experience and few expecting long-term success.

Eight years later, he has transformed the Albiceleste into world football's dominant force. Under Scaloni, Argentina ended a 28-year trophy drought by winning the 2021 Copa America before lifting the 2022 Finalissima.

His greatest achievement came later that year, when Argentina defeated France in a thrilling World Cup final in Qatar to secure their third world title and Lionel Messi's long-awaited first World Cup.

Scaloni has since guided Argentina to another Copa America triumph in 2024 and now has an impressive record of 73 wins, 18 draws and just nine defeats in 100 matches. His 100th match was against World Cup debutants Cape Verde in the Round of 32 in Miami.

Despite his success, Scaloni remains focused on the present rather than his legacy. "I never imagined reaching 100 matches in my life, he said. 'It's a huge number, especially in this jersey. It will be a wonderful moment when it happens.", reports AFP.

The Argentine Football Association is reportedly negotiating a five-year contract extension with Scaloni, whose current deal expires at the end of the year.
