Three members of a family were stabbed allegedly by their rivals over payment of debt money at Banani in  the capital today (27 June).

The victims were Sumon Mia, 45, his wife Sonia, 38 and Sonia's brother Russel, 40.

Jane Alam, sub-inspector of Banani Police Station, said one Arif and victim Sumon set to meet near Mohakhali Wireless Sishu Mela School around 4:30am.

Sumon, a resident of Mohakhali T&T colony, along with his wife and brother-in-law Russel were there while Arif along with 7-8 people appeared there.

An altercation ensued between Arif and Sumon over payment of debt money.

At one stage, they beat Arif, Sonia and Russel up and stabbed them indiscriminately, leaving all injured.

Hearing screams, local people rushed in and took them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Police are trying to arrest the attackers, said SI Jane Alam.
