Five rivers remain above the danger level as active monsoon conditions persist, while cautionary signal No 3 has been advised for four seaports.

The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) disclosed the issue today (10 July), based on observations recorded at 9am.

The Sangu River is flowing 95 cm above the Bandarban point and 23 cm above Dohazari. The Matamuhuri River is 47 cm and 32 cm higher at Chiringa in Cox's Bazar.

The Kushiyara, Manu and Khowai rivers are also flowing above the danger level at several monitoring points in Sunamganj, Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj.

Water levels are rising at 79 of the country's 127 river monitoring stations, falling at 43 and remaining unchanged at five, the FFWC said.

The FFWC also said 109mm of rainfall was recorded in Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, over the past 24 hours, while Chattogram recorded the highest rainfall in Bangladesh at 203mm.
