Police have arrested another suspect in connection with an incident in which a dog was thrown into a river from Narsingdi's Nagariakandi Bridge with a brick tied to its neck, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to three.

The latest arrestee is Ramzan Ali, who has been named in the first information report (FIR), according to a press release issued by Narsingdi District Police late last night (27 June).

The release said a video circulated on social media on Thursday (25 June) showed a dog being thrown into a river from Nagariakandi Bridge with a rope tied around its neck and a brick attached to the other end.

After the video came to the attention of Narsingdi District Police, officers launched an operation under the direction of the district's superintendent of police.

Police arrested the main accused, Mohammad Ali, 25, on the same day. A case was later filed with Narsingdi Sadar Model Police Station, and he was produced before a court.

Yesterday, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of Narsingdi District Police arrested Shahinara Begum, 52, from the New Bus Stand area of Narsingdi town in connection with the incident.

The release said Ramzan Ali, 22, was arrested later as part of ongoing drives against the remaining accused.

Police said operations are continuing to arrest others allegedly involved in the incident.
