According to a BGB press release issued later in the day, no one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Lieutenant Colonel Jabbar Ahmed, commanding officer of BGB's 25 Battalion, said acting on a tip-off, a patrol team of Alinagar BOP under Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) conducted the operation in the Bhagolpur border area.
During the drive, the patrol spotted seven to eight people entering Bangladesh from India on two bicycles carrying jute sacks. Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, a group of smugglers fled the scene, leaving behind the contraband items and bicycles.
Later, BGB members recovered 3,960 mobile phone displays concealed inside cartons packed in sacks.
The seized goods are being handed over to Akhaura Customs Office following legal procedures, the BGB release added.
