Eleven Chinese companies have proposed investments worth $9.21 billion in Bangladesh following meetings between company executives and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Beijing on 25 June, according to information seen by The Business Standard.
The proposed investments came from company chief executives and senior officials representing various subsectors, according to the report, which said it had reviewed company-wise investment proposals.
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun cautioned that the figures had not yet been independently assessed.
"These numbers were coined by them. But we have not done any verification or due diligence. So we can't guarantee the probability," he said.
