Highlights:
France and Morocco remained deadlocked at 0-0 midway through the first half of their FIFA World Cup quarter-final in Boston on Friday (10 July), with Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou producing the game's defining moment by saving a penalty from Kylian Mbappé.
France started brightly and repeatedly threatened the Moroccan defence through Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé, forcing Bounou into several important interventions as Les Bleus looked to seize early control.
The biggest opportunity arrived after a lengthy VAR review confirmed a penalty for France following a challenge by Noussair Mazraoui inside the area. Mbappé stepped up but failed to convert, with Bounou comfortably denying the spot-kick to keep Morocco level.
Morocco, missing influential attacker Ismael Saibari through injury, remained disciplined defensively and sought to threaten on the counterattack, frustrating the two-time world champions despite France's territorial dominance.
The quarter-final is a rematch of the nations' 2022 World Cup semi-final and carries added significance, with the winners advancing to the last four.
