The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has urged aspiring migrant workers and recruiting agencies not to make any financial transactions or recruitment arrangements until the government formally announces the reopening of the Malaysian labour market.
No individual or organisation should be contacted for employment-related processing or payments for jobs in Malaysia until an official notification, according to an emergency advisory issued by the ministry today (8 July).
The ministry also instructed aspiring workers not to undergo medical examinations or pay any fees related to recruitment before the worker recruitment process is officially launched.
Recruiting agencies have been directed not to sign any agreements with workers intending to go to Malaysia until the government issues a formal announcement. They have also been strictly instructed not to collect passports, arrange medical tests or receive any payments from job seekers before the official recruitment process begins, according to it.
The warning comes amid growing interest among Bangladeshi workers over the possible reopening of the Malaysian labour market following prolonged uncertainty.
The ministry urged anyone seeking information or wishing to lodge complaints regarding Malaysia-bound migration to contact the Probashi Call Centre at 16135 from within Bangladesh or +8809610102030 from abroad.
It also asked stakeholders to communicate directly with the ministry's Malaysia focal point Md Hedayetul Islam Mondol for official information regarding recruitment to Malaysia.
The ministry also urged workers to rely only on official announcements and avoid falling victim to fraudulent recruitment offers or financial scams before the labour market is formally reopened.
