KSRM, one of the country's leading steel manufacturers, has donated life-saving medical equipment worth nearly Tk2 crore to Chattogram Medical College Hospital to enhance its healthcare service capacity.

The equipment was handed over at a ceremony held at the hospital's conference room yesterday. KSRM Deputy Managing Director Selim Uddin formally handed over the equipment to Additional Secretary (Budget) of the Ministry of Health Arif Ahmed and Chattogram Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin.

The donated equipment includes four haemodialysis machines, four real-time 4D ultrasound machines and a state-of-the-art GE colour Doppler system. Hospital authorities said the equipment will play a crucial role in diagnosis and treatment of critically ill patients.

Speaking at the event, Additional Secretary Arif Ahmed said the 2,200-bed Chattogram Medical Hospital operates under an inadequate budget compared to its actual needs, often forcing patients to bear significant treatment costs. He said KSRM's support would help improve access to advanced medical services and urged other business groups to come forward as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Chattogram Medical College Hospital Director Brig Gen Mohammad Taslim Uddin said KSRM has consistently supported the hospital during times of crisis. He said the newly donated life-saving equipment will help save critically ill patients during emergencies while also enabling access to more affordable treatment. He described the initiative as a significant contribution to strengthening the hospital's overall capacity.

KSRM Director (Sales and Marketing) Jasim Uddin said the company is proud to be part of Chattogram Medical College Hospital's humanitarian initiatives. He said standing by people in need is a core part of the company's social responsibility and such support would continue in the future.
