The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 has arrested listed mugger and alleged drug peddler Mohammad Maharam, 30, from the capital's Karwan Bazar.

He was arrested yesterday (4 July) based on a tip-off, said RAB-2 Deputy Director (Media) Major M Mubeen Rahman Taposh today (5 July).

According to the elite force, Maharam had long been involved in series of muggings, theft, drug peddling and other criminal activities in different parts of Dhaka including Karwan Bazar.

According to the RAB official, Maharam is accused in six cases filed with Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station on charges including robbery, dacoity, receiving stolen property and narcotics offences.

Maharam also faces a separate narcotics-related case with Hatirjheel Police Station.

In addition, an arrest warrant had also been issued against him in another case filed with Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station.
