Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today (7 July) urged students to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills needed to play a greater role in nation-building.

He made the call while interacting with teachers and students visiting parliament to observe its proceedings during a break in the parliamentary sitting at the Jatiya Sangsad, according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Press Wing.

The prime minister exchanged greetings with the students, asked about their studies, and encouraged them to work hard so they could contribute to the country's development.

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam and Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon accompanied him.

As part of the government's initiative to allow students to observe parliamentary proceedings, teachers and students from several educational institutions, including four foreign students, visited the Jatiya Sangsad today.

During the visit, they toured the Parliament Complex, observed its architecture, visited the library, took photographs, and watched the parliamentary proceedings before meeting the prime minister during the recess.

The visitors included 69 teachers and students from educational institutions in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj through Narayanganj-1 lawmaker Mustafizur Rahman Bhuiyan; 53 teachers and students from Notre Dame College; eight representatives, including four students from the University of Oxford, through Bangladesh Legal Aid Services; and an 18-member delegation through reserved seat–18 lawmaker Fahmida Haque and the Centre for Governance Studies.
