Students who could not sit for the ongoing HSC and equivalent examinations because of heavy rainfall and adverse weather will get another opportunity to take the tests, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said.
"As the HSC examination is a crucial milestone in a student's life, the government has decided to provide this opportunity on special consideration," he told parliament today (15 July) while delivering a statement under Rule 300.
The minister said 12,70,583 students are taking part in this year's HSC and equivalent examinations at 2,697 centres across the country.
Examinations have already been postponed in five districts under the Chattogram Education Board- Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, and Bandarban due to heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions, he added.
He also said some students in other parts of the country failed to attend scheduled examinations due to adverse weather and other unavoidable circumstances.
"Students who could not sit for any HSC or equivalent examination due to adverse weather or other unavoidable reasons will be allowed to take the respective subject on the same date and at the same time as the postponed Chattogram Education Board examinations," the minister said.
They will take the tests using the same question papers as those for the postponed examinations, he added.
Milon also said authorities have temporarily suspended those responsible for preparing the erroneous Physics First Paper question paper.
He further assured students that they would receive full marks for Questions 6 and 7 of the Physics First Paper, where errors were found.
Meanwhile, HSC examinees today staged protests for a second consecutive day to press home their demands. Police blocked protesting students with barricades outside Shikkha Bhaban in Dhaka as they marched towards the Secretariat.
The students are demanding the education minister's resignation, the postponement of the ongoing HSC examinations, and other measures related to the exam process.
