Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha added another memorable moment to his impressive 2026 Fifa World Cup campaign by surpassing Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo in a surprising knockout stage statistic.

The 40-year-old, who first drew attention with an outstanding performance against Spain in Cape Verde's opening match, continued his fine form in the team's 3-2 Round of 32 defeat to Argentina on Friday (3 July).

During the match, Vozinha completed two successful dribbles, taking his total beyond Ronaldo's tally in World Cup knockout matches.

Despite appearing in his sixth World Cup, Ronaldo's performances in the tournament's knockout stages have often been scrutinised. Although he scored his first-ever World Cup knockout goal in Portugal's Round of 32 victory over Croatia, he finished behind Vozinha in successful dribbles in the knockout rounds.

Cape Verde, however, could not build on the veteran goalkeeper's performance as the African side bowed out after a narrow defeat to defending champions Argentina.
