The body of a 13-year-old boy has been recovered today (11 July) from Eidghar area of Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar, four days after he was swept away by flash floodwaters.

The deceased, Sajidul Islam Sajid, was the son of Nurul Islam of Eidghar union under Ramu upazila.

Eidgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ATM Sifatul Majdar said, "The boy went missing on 8 July after being swept away by the strong current while collecting firewood from the river. Since then, family members had searched various possible locations but failed to trace him."

"Local residents spotted the body floating in the Gazalia River this morning and informed both the family and the police," he added.

Before police officers arrived at the scene, relatives had already recovered the body from the river and taken it back to Eidghar in Ramu.

Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam Bhuiyan said that, after receiving information through Eidgaon Police Station, a team from Ramu Police Station visited the scene, prepared the inquest report and, following the completion of the legal formalities, handed the body over to the family.
