The government has promoted 172 deputy secretaries and officials of equivalent rank to the post of joint secretary.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard today (9 July).

As per the existing practice, the promoted officials have been made officers on special duty (OSD) after their promotion.

The officials have been asked to submit their joining letters directly in person or via email to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration.

"If an official's workplace has changed from the one mentioned in the promotion order, the joining letter must include the name and address of the current office," the notification stated.

It further added that the authorities reserve the right to make necessary amendments to or cancel the order if any adverse or conflicting information regarding any official is found later.
