Four people, including a woman and a teenager, crossed into Bangladesh through the Dainur border in Dinajpur Sadar early today (11 July) and are now stranded in the no-man's land area after being stopped by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The four, who claimed to be Bangladeshi nationals, were identified as Gani Molla, 35, son of late Torab Molla of Panch Kamne village in Narail's Kalia upazila; Babul Molla, 50, son of Masud Molla of Karikar Para in Khulna Sadar; his wife, Sukhi Molla, 35; and their 15-year-old son, Mohammad Jihad Molla.
Locals said the group initially had around 10 to 15 people, but the others returned to India after sensing the situation.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Arif-Uz-Zaman Arif, commanding officer of BGB-29 Battalion, said the incident was not a push-in.
"Four people crossed the border around 5:45am. They could not enter Bangladesh by evading BGB patrols and are now staying at the zero line between the two countries," he said.
The BGB has not yet been able to verify the nationality of the four individuals, he added.
