Bangladesh will host its first large-scale discount shopping festival, the Dhaka Discount Fest 2026, from 10-12 December at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BCFEC) in Agargaon, bringing together 250 local and international brands, organisers announced today (1 July).

The announcement was made at a press conference at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka. The festival is being organised by EventCom, with Ventora Communications Limited serving as its strategic partner.

Organisers said the event aims to become South Asia's largest discount festival, featuring brands from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and several Asian and European countries.

Visitors will be offered discounts of up to 75% on a wide range of products and services, along with flash sales, limited-time promotions and exclusive offers.

According to the organisers, the festival is designed to connect consumers with local and international brands while helping businesses expand their market reach, strengthen customer engagement and build new commercial partnerships. It will also provide greater exposure for emerging Bangladeshi brands.

Businesses that reserve exhibition stalls by 16 July will receive a 50% early-bird discount.

Project Director Md Taslim Amin Shovon said the festival is intended to strengthen links between brands and consumers while supporting the growth of Bangladesh's retail sector.

Head of Operations Shafiqul Islam described the event as the first initiative of its kind in the country, saying it is expected to generate new business opportunities, attract customers and stimulate retail growth.

Chief Facilitator for Women Empowerment Jinnat Ara Bari said the festival will give women entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their products to consumers, corporate buyers, distributors, business partners and media representatives.

Organisers said they plan to make the Dhaka Discount Fest an annual event before expanding it to other cities. Similar festivals are scheduled for Chattogram (11-13 March), Rajshahi (13-15 May), Sylhet (10-13 June) and Khulna (9-11 September) next year.

They added that the festival is also expected to expand internationally, with further details to be announced later.
