National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has warned the BNP not to "mess with" students, saying they would "pack you off to London".

Speaking at an NCP street rally in Bogura yesterday (14 July), Patwary told HSC and equivalent examinees not to be afraid.

Referring to the students who staged demonstrations in Dhaka and five other districts calling for the resignation of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, he alleged that protesters near the parliament had been charged with batons, kicked with boots and grabbed by the collar.

"Don't mess with these students. They'll pack you off to London," he said, adding that when these students go to university in the future, they will say they do not want the BNP.

Patwary also responded to criticism that his party members were "July businessmen".

"Yes, we will be July businessmen a thousand times over. But we will never become tender businessmen like you," he said.

Concluding his speech, Patwary announced AMZ Shahriar Juhin as the NCP's candidate for the Bogura Sadar upazila chairman post.

Earlier, at another NCP street rally in Dupchanchia Upazila, Chief Organiser (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam said the government would face the same fate as the "fallen fascist government" if it ignored the verdict of the referendum and failed to implement the July Charter.
