The government has begun preparing lists of farmers affected by floods and will provide assistance after completing the process, Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has said.
While answering questions from journalists after inaugurating the National Tree Fair at the Cumilla Town Hall ground today (11 July), he said authorities are preparing lists of affected farmers at the union and ward levels in flood-hit areas across the country.
The government will provide assistance to the affected farmers once the lists are complete, added Amin, who is also the fisheries and livestock minister.
Commenting on the tree plantation programme, the minister said many people still retain a culture of looting that has developed over a long period.
However, he said, everyone should understand that the prime minister regularly monitors the progress of the tree plantation programme.
Therefore, there is no scope for irregularities in the programme, he warned.
