A Dhaka court has set 15 July for the submission of the supplementary investigation report in the murder case over the killing of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.

The report was scheduled to be submitted today (28 June). However, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is conducting the further investigation, failed to submit it.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam then fixed 15 July as the new date for filing the report.

This is the 17th time the investigating officer has been granted more time to submit the supplementary investigation report, confirmed Deputy Inspector Rokonuzzaman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Prosecution.

Earlier, on 6 January, the case's then investigating officer, Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Faisal Ahmed, submitted a charge sheet against 17 people. Nine days later, the complainant, Inquilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition challenging the charge sheet. The court subsequently directed the CID to conduct a further investigation.

According to the case statements, motorcycle-borne assailants shot Hadi at around 2:20pm on 12 December in the Box Culvert Road area under Paltan Model Police Station before fleeing. He sustained critical bullet injuries to his head and below his right ear.

Hadi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on 15 December for advanced treatment.

He died there on 18 December while undergoing treatment.

Following the attack, Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Police Station on 14 December. The case was later converted into a murder case.
