Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today (3 July, 2026) urged the country's young generation to channel their energy into innovation, research and technology instead of limiting their enthusiasm to supporting sports teams.
He made the call while inaugurating the 'Soleman Solar Irrigation Pump', developed by local innovator Soleman Ali, at Raipur Union under Thakurgaon Sadar upazila this morning.
Mirza Fakhrul said the nation needs more young innovators capable of contributing to agriculture, technology and economic development.
"It is not enough to remain occupied with supporting Argentina or Brazil. Our young people must focus on innovation, creativity and research. What Soleman Ali has achieved is truly remarkable. His innovation is not only a personal success but also an important contribution to the country's agriculture and economy," he said.
The younger generation has much to learn from innovators like Soleman Ali, adding that such creative minds would play a vital role in building a prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh, the minister said.
He also assured all possible government support for Soleman Ali's innovative initiatives so that more practical technologies could be developed for the benefit of farmers.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Haque, Superintendent of Police Belal Hossain, LGED Executive Engineer Mohammad Mamun Biswas, Thakurgaon district BNP General Secretary Paygam Ali and other local officials and political leaders were present on the occasion.
