Md Muhidul Islam, Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, visited Narayanganj River Port on 27 June.

He is an Additional Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh and was recently appointed Chairman of the authority.

During the inspection, he visited the Narayanganj River Port terminal area, a new terminal building being constructed with World Bank support, the under-construction shed at Machh Ghat, the under-construction Khanpur Inland Container Terminal, the Narayanganj Dredger Base, rescue vessel Prattay and the DEPTC.

He also inspected waterways from the Dredger Base, along the Shitalakshya River in front of Shah Cement Factory, up to the Muktarpur Bridge area on the Dhaleshwari River.

Rokibul Islam Talukdar, Member (Engineering) of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority; Md Saiful Islam, Director (Administration and Human Resources) and additional charge Director of the Port and Traffic Department; AH Md Farhad Uzzaman, Chief Engineer (Civil); and Captain Md Shajahan, Director of the Conservancy and Pilotage Department, were present.

Officers and employees from all departments of Narayanganj River Port were also present during the visit.
