France were held to a 0-0 scoreline by a resilient Paraguay at half-time in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash after failing to convert their dominance into goals.

Didier Deschamps' side controlled possession and created the better chances, but Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill produced an excellent save to deny Jules Kounde's powerful effort in the 36th minute.

France threatened mainly through Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappe, earning several corners, while Adrien Rabiot and Manu Kone both fired off target from distance.

Paraguay, meanwhile, remained compact in defence and looked to strike on the counter, with Diego Gomez sending their best chance of the half wide from the edge of the area.

Bradley Barcola was booked for France in the 19th minute as the South Americans successfully frustrated one of the tournament favourites heading into the break.
