Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed the authorities concerned to complete the preparation of textbooks for the new academic year by 30 November, with the aim of placing the books in students' hands during their annual examinations in December.

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon disclosed the directive to reporters after a review meeting on textbook publication activities with the prime minister at the Secretariat today (6 July).

He said the government wants to ensure that students receive their textbooks before the start of the new academic year.

"We hope students will receive the new books during their final examinations in December. The prime minister has instructed that all textbooks must be ready by 30 November," he said.

The minister said the tender process for printing textbooks is currently underway, adding that all work orders are expected to be issued by the first week of August.

Printing will begin immediately after publishers receive the work orders, said the minister.

He also said the Education Ministry and the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) are fully prepared to supervise the printing and distribution process.

According to the minister, all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the textbooks are printed and delivered to students within the stipulated timeframe.
