A man was killed and several others were injured during a clash between two groups allegedly over picking mangoes from a tree in Rajshahi's Mohanpur upazila yesterday evening (27 June).

The deceased was identified as Abdur Razzak, 55, son of Bhugor Mondal of Hariharpura village in Mougachhi union.

Officer-in-Charge of Mohanpur Police Station Mizanur Rahman said the body had been recovered and sent to the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College for an autopsy.

He said the deceased's son filed a murder case with the police station over the incident.

Police have launched efforts to arrest those involved, the OC added.

According to local sources, an altercation broke out around 7:30pm in Hariharpura village after Abdur Razzak alleged that a person had picked mangoes from his son's tree. The dispute later escalated into a clash between two groups.

During the clash, Abdur Razzak sustained serious injuries after being struck with a stick. He died on the way to hospital after being rescued from the scene.

Several people from both sides were also injured. They are receiving treatment at a local hospital and at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information about the clash and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed in the area.
