Ministers and secretaries of the relevant ministries must now personally inspect project sites before submitting any proposal to revise a project, according to a new directive issued yesterday (1 July)  by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) Wing-1 of the Ministry of Planning.

The directive also instructs ministries and government agencies to refrain from using imported construction materials in development projects.

The decision follows resolutions adopted at a meeting of Ecnec held on 13 May 2026, said the directive.

According to the order, before submitting any revision proposal for a development project, the minister and secretary of the concerned ministry are required to conduct an on-site inspection of the project area. A revision proposal may only be forwarded after assessing the project's actual progress and conditions on the ground.

The directive also states that government building projects must use construction materials manufactured in Bangladesh, including tiles and lifts.
