Facebook and Messenger users reported widespread service disruptions this evening (22 July), with many saying they were unable to access key features on the platforms.

According to user reports submitted to Downdetector, issues began surfacing around 6pm and continued until at least 7:30pm. A total of 27 users reported problems during that period.

Users said they experienced difficulties sending messages, refreshing their Facebook feeds and loading content on both platforms.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Messenger, had not immediately commented on the cause of the disruption or provided a timeline for the restoration of normal services.
